Description
Are you interested in going around the ancient world with your homeschool lessons this year? This is a literature-based, family-style curriculum for elementary students! Designed to promote either Charlotte Mason or Classical styles of education. This curriculum includes stories of ancient history expanded into many subjects from around the globe for families of first through sixth graders. Unlike free online CM curricula, you don’t have to schedule out the recommended books. These lesson plans are researched and laid out so you can do the recommended readings confident in completing the scope at the end. Each week covers connected topics to explore ideas in the same categories but without the 5-day format. This allows you to have a day for co-op, two days for blended model, or a day to catch up.

- Also, each day has a toddler time picture book to read, and an activity to develop a relationship with your toddler, or to keep your toddler busy while you’re working with your other children.
Emphasas on family connection
What sets this curriculum apart is that you learn as a family rather than having students on multiple learning tracts.
Many cycle curriculums I see claim to be global but tend to slide back and focus on Western Europe or don’t stay ancient. I’ve tried to spend equal time on the different continents All history picture books are from BC/BCE. Each selection for a culture not my own was cross-checked in the Stories of Color database.
Two months of each school year are taken to examine the ancient history and culture of 4 of the major contents.

Science is different this year!!! I will have a younger elementary track that leans into nature learning. Then there will be a “second helpings” track that includes higher-level science! I’ve also written and included labs. Lessons are reviewed by a certified elementary educator and an educator who has completed the Charlotte Mason Institute CORE teacher’s training. We are almost through week 3, and we have really enjoyed this curriculum. We love reading stories that teach history, and having geography, art and spelling all tied in with what we’re studying in history. Real talk here: I’m not one to research literature or even go to the library and check out books.
The last few years I’ve been in survival mode. We do the basics, math and LA. We attend a co op once a week and do a homeschool PE twice a week. I have 4 boys age 10, 8, 7, 2. The theme over our last 5 years of homeschool has been, get school done so we can move on to the day.
I’ve tried supplemental things like history and art but gosh it was boring for most of my kids. I’m not a “fun” mom and have a hard time bringing information to life.
This year I wanted to do it differently. To slow down and enjoy school. I reorganized our school room, took out the desks, made it comfy and a place we would want to spend time.
Then I seen Elizabeth’s curriculum and I had met her at a local conference the year before and enjoyed her class she held and thought I’d give it a try!
I’m so pleased. We aren’t rushing, we are enjoying learning together.
My kid who hates to draw was thrilled to illustrate a picture from Gilgamesh the king today.
Yesterday they LOVED looking through the DK book.
I’ve spent a small fortune on crafts to keep their hands busy doing read alouds but I’m so happy about it!

We have completed our first month of this curriculum and we have had the sweetest month.
After a move that took us away from a beloved homeschool co-op that formed the backbone of our school experience the last 6 years, I was so nervous on how to fill that void. I saw this option on Instagram, and ordered it, thinking it would be one of many I would try.
But it has been perfect to fill our needs! There is a plethora of material available which is cohesive and thoughtful. It is easy to switch an activity or reading around or out. The 3 days we follow this, we call them our robust days, filled with learning in such an enjoyable way! We use it with my 10, 7, and 4 year old and all are asking amazing questions and looking for answers.

I am doing a blend of Classical and Charlotte Mason in my homeschool. This curriculum fit in with our Classical Conversations rhythm adding in the desired structure I wanted. Each month has a specific focus and includes a hymn, verses to memorize and do copy work with.
The curriculum leans heavily on literature which is exactly what I want! We have so enjoyed the art and handicrafts that accompany the weekly topics.
My kids were 7 and 5 when we started at the beginning of the year and they have enjoyed it!
